Roots Wine Bar ("roots") is your neighborhood go to for wine, beer, and food. We believe in wines that are grown sustainably, made with minimal intervention, and taste delicious. We like to highlight labels that are not as well known, hidden gems from small producers, female winemakers, and wines that give back to charities we believe in.

 

We believe that great wine should be accessible to all. We are the first in Houston to offer a unique experience that leverages the idea of “Try Before You Buy” using fully automated wine dispensing machines. Our unique machines give you the option to try 56 different wines in 1oz, 3oz, or 5oz pours. We change up our offerings almost weekly, so be sure to stop by for fresh new finds!

 Roots Wine Bar is under new ownership since the beginning of 2024. The new owner Suzani Asmlash grant is an accomplished entrepreneur and business owner. Born in Ethiopia, Suzani escaped the dangerous turmoil of that country’s civil war (1974-1991) ultimately arriving in the United states in 1999 settling in Las Vegas initially. Before meeting her husband Gary Grant and moving to Houston in 2008. Suzani opened what has become a very successful restaurant, Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant in 2012 which was voted one of the top 50 restaurants in Houston by the Houstonia Magazine in 2016.

Suzani is excited about her new wine bar which also features a retail shop featuring everything that we serve by the glass and much more. Whether you need a bottle for dinner at home, a mixed case to share with friends, or a special bottle for a special occasion - we have more than 200 labels to choose from.
